Epilogue: The Kinrara File

Six months later

International University of Technology and Innovation, Selangor

The lecture hall was quiet. A calm-looking young lecturer stood at the front, arranging his slides as he waited for the students to enter. From the back of the room, a male student rushed in and took a seat. In his hand was a worn black folder.

"Sorry, Doctor. I’m a bit late."

The lecturer nodded. "That’s okay, Aiman. I was just about to start."

Aiman opened his notebook. On the side of the desk, he placed the folder he had brought. The label, though faded, was still readable:

As the lecturer spoke about research ethics and the social responsibilities of scientists, Aiman’s thoughts drifted far away. He didn’t hear a word. Slowly, his hand opened the folder again.

Inside were photographs of an old lab. Not the one in Kluang, but another, located in an abandoned industrial zone in Selangor. There were printouts of emails from Dr. Mokhtar, and a strange chart marked with energy symbols and geoactivity indicators.

And a handwritten note. One he recognised instantly:

"We didn’t save the town. We only delayed the real catastrophe."

It was only the transition.

Outside the window, the sky was overcast. Heavy clouds moved slowly.

His chest tightened. The reporter instinct still alive in him could feel it.

Another storm was coming.

And this time, it might be bigger than anything they had ever faced before.
